Head of Maths

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced maths educator to lead the Mathematics department at Ripplevale School Rochester, an independent special school for students aged 6‑25 with diverse learning needs. The Head of Maths will shape an inclusive, child‑centred curriculum across Key Stages 3‑5 and ensure high‑quality teaching that supports each learner.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategic vision for the Maths department.
• Deliver high‑quality maths lessons and oversee curriculum planning, assessment and data reporting.
• Mentor and support teaching staff, promoting best practice and professional development.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, therapeutic and support teams to integrate maths learning with holistic student care.
• Champion inclusion, equality and diversity within the department and across the school.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with substantial experience teaching mathematics, preferably in special‑needs settings.
• Strong leadership and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to supporting students with autism, dyslexia and other learning differences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a forward‑thinking, multidisciplinary environment.
