Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (Part‑time, Temporary)

About the role

We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to provide short‑term, part‑time cover for a large secondary school in Sutton, South London. You will step into classrooms with minimal preparation, ensuring lessons continue smoothly and students remain engaged.

Key responsibilities

• Provide cover for registration and deliver lessons left uncovered, often at short notice.
• Maintain a positive learning climate using the school’s behaviour policies and gold classroom standards.
• Manage classroom behaviour, supporting students to build self‑esteem through praise and encouragement.
• Assist in the development and implementation of SEN support plans, particularly for students with autism.

Required profile

• Hold a degree or be an aspiring teacher.
• Interest in and knowledge of autism.
• Experience managing distressed behaviours and solving problems calmly.
• Basic IT literacy and excellent written and verbal communication in English.
