Head of Policy and Influencing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced policy professional to lead the Macular Society’s policy and influencing function. You will shape our strategy, ensure the voice of people living with macular disease is heard at the highest levels of government and healthcare, and build a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Society’s policy and influencing work.
• Develop and deliver a comprehensive policy and influencing strategy.
• Ensure policy positions and campaigns reflect the needs and experiences of people with macular disease.
• Represent the Society with senior stakeholders across government, NHS and related bodies.
• Lead, mentor and grow a dedicated policy team.
• Travel to in‑person meetings and events as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in policy development, campaigning or advocacy, preferably in health or charitable sectors.
• Self‑starter with strong strategic thinking and influencing abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑building skills.
• Commitment to inclusive, disability‑confident workplaces.
