Head of Residential Conveyancing – Lead Property Team

About the role

The Legists, a well‑established law firm in Wiltshire, is looking for a Head of Residential Conveyancing to lead and grow its property department. This senior position offers a clear pathway to partnership and the autonomy to shape the team’s future.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the residential conveyancing department, ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
• Manage, mentor and develop a team of solicitors, legal executives and licensed conveyancers.
• Handle a varied caseload of freehold and leasehold sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and new‑build matters.
• Drive business development by maintaining strong relationships with clients, estate agents and referrers.
• Contribute to the firm’s strategic growth and partnership ambitions.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer with significant residential conveyancing experience.
• Proven leadership or senior fee‑earner experience ready to step into a management role.
• Strong commercial awareness and excellent client‑care skills.
• Aspiring to progress to partnership within a supportive environment.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of residential conveyancing law and practice.
• Experience managing a conveyancing team and caseload.
• Business development and client relationship management abilities.
