Head of Science and Technology Strategy

About the role

The Wellcome Genome Campus is expanding into a global hub for genomics, biodata sciences and related technologies. We are seeking a senior leader to shape and execute the Science and Technology strategy that will guide this transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous evolution of the campus-wide Science and Technology strategy in partnership with the CEO and the Chair of the Science and Technology Advisory Group (STAG).
• Commission and conduct research required to inform strategic decisions and implementation plans.
• Drive projects emerging from the strategy, coordinating with internal leaders, the Wellcome Trust, and external partners on funding, delivery models and business plans.
• Organise STAG meetings, manage stakeholder relationships and ensure effective communication with advisory members.
• Collaborate with key ecosystem partners such as the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Health Data Research Service and EMBL‑EBI to define the campus scientific offering, partnership models, technology transfer, licensing and spin‑out activities.

Required profile

• Proven executive leadership experience in science and technology strategy within a research or life‑science environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with senior executives, advisory boards and external research organisations.
• Strong understanding of genomics, biodata, AI and big‑data technologies and their application to life‑science research.
