Head of SME

About the role

Stride Resource Management is seeking a dynamic Head of SME to lead and grow its SME trading operations. You will shape broking and distribution strategies, manage key insurer relationships, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality insurance solutions for our SME portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute trading strategies to increase revenue, improve conversion rates and boost client retention.
• Set performance targets for new business, renewals and cross‑sell activities and monitor results.
• Analyse trading data, identify trends and opportunities, and lead regular trading reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with insurer partners, negotiating capacity, pricing and service levels.
• Lead, mentor and develop sales and support teams, fostering a high‑performance, collaborative culture.
• Enhance online quote journeys and e‑trade performance in partnership with digital and product teams.
• Ensure all trading activity complies with FCA regulations and internal risk frameworks.
• Manage budgets, forecasts and performance metrics to meet financial targets.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver integrated solutions and improve client outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in commercial SME broking.
• Strong commercial acumen with a strategic mindset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of insurance products, markets and regulation.
• Demonstrated success in driving growth and managing change.
