Head of Strategic Sourcing

About the role

The Head of Strategic Sourcing will lead the development and execution of a global sourcing strategy for an industrial and manufacturing organisation based in Greater Manchester. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure supply resilience, cost competitiveness and high supplier performance across multiple manufacturing sites and a Far‑East supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with the company’s business objectives.
• Identify, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal terms, quality and reliability.
• Monitor supplier performance, enforce compliance and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with internal operations, finance and engineering teams to align procurement activities with operational needs.
• Analyse market trends and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Manage sourcing budgets and achieve financial targets.
• Lead, mentor and develop the procurement team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management within the industrial/manufacturing sector.
• Background in sourcing materials such as forgings, metals, electronics or castings is advantageous.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities.
• Ability to design and execute strategic sourcing plans.
• Analytical mindset focused on cost optimisation.
• Leadership experience with team development responsibilities.
• Solid understanding of procurement policies and regulations.
