Head of Supply Chain – Strategic Leadership

About the role

Jackson Hogg is supporting a fast‑paced project delivery organisation in Sunderland to appoint a Head of Supply Chain. This senior leadership position will shape and drive supply chain strategy across complex engineering projects, ensuring goods and services are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Group Supply Chain strategy aligned with business growth and project delivery objectives.
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, expanding and diversifying the global supplier base.
• Negotiate and manage long‑term supplier agreements, including commercial terms, frameworks and service level agreements.
• Build and maintain key supplier partnerships, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement.
• Monitor global commodity and logistics trends, identifying risks and opportunities that affect project timelines.
• Lead the design and implementation of supply chain systems and processes.
• Oversee end‑to‑end procurement activities, ensuring best practice, compliance and alignment with project schedules.
• Manage high‑value and critical supplier contracts.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in procurement and supply chain within construction or heavy engineering.
• Proven track record of delivering strategic sourcing and leading high‑value commercial negotiations.
• Experience sourcing complex, bespoke engineered equipment from a global supplier base.
• Strong knowledge of categories such as structural steel, OEM equipment, fabricated assemblies and coated products.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance cost, risk and delivery.
