Health Care Support Worker – NHS Walk‑In Service

About the role

The NHS Scotland Walk‑In Service (Urgent Care) is seeking a Health Care Support Worker to assist clinical teams across several sites. You will help deliver safe, patient‑centred care in a fast‑moving environment, supporting GPs, nurses and non‑clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Take clinical observations and record patient data accurately.
• Manage and maintain medical equipment, ensuring it is clean and functional.
• Stock storerooms, cupboards and replenish supplies as needed.
• Assist with general tidying of departments and ensure a tidy environment.
• Cover staff breaks, escort patients and provide assistance throughout the Walk‑In centre.
• Support clinical staff in delivering safe, patient‑focused care.

Required profile

• Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively.
• Previous hospital or caring experience is desirable.
• Willingness to work in multiple NHS Fife locations (RWMH, VHK, QMH, SACH).
• Commitment to obtain a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership.

Required skills

• SVQ Level 3 in Health Care or equivalent qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
