Health, Safety, and Compliance Lead

About the role

The Health, Safety, and Compliance Lead will champion safe, compliant, and high‑quality homes across a large regional housing portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Asset Safety, you will join the senior leadership team and drive the organisation’s safety agenda, influencing business‑plan priorities and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead compliance programmes for fire safety, asbestos, radon and environmental health across over 10,000 homes.
• Manage and develop specialist teams, including senior managers and operational staff.
• Maintain full regulatory compliance, anticipate legislative changes and embed best practice.
• Oversee an approximate £6 million budget, ensuring value for money and financial control.
• Drive risk‑management processes and embed a strong safety culture.
• Collaborate with capital investment and improvement programmes to support safe asset delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading health, safety and compliance functions in the housing or construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK building‑safety legislation and environmental standards.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across functions.
• Experience managing multi‑million‑pound budgets and leading high‑performing teams.
