Health & Safety Inspector

About the role

We are partnering with a tier‑1 construction contractor to find a Health, Safety & Environmental (SHE) Inspector for the London & South region. The role is hybrid, with frequent travel to live sites, and will support a national team of inspectors in driving a proactive safety culture across all projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example and promote a positive health and safety culture on all projects.
• Support the management and accreditation of the company’s Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems.
• Visit live sites to validate SHE compliance, monitor performance and provide practical guidance.
• Conduct thorough SHE inspections, produce same‑day written reports and de‑brief site teams on required improvements.
• Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to the overall safety culture.
• Lead pre‑mortem accident/incident investigations and ensure lessons are shared.
• Deliver in‑house training, coach operational teams and represent SHE at internal and external forums.
• Maintain an accurate inspection outlook calendar.

Required profile

• Seasoned SHE professional with main‑contractor or enforcing‑authority experience in construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, temporary works, lifting operations and groundworks.
• Proven experience managing SHE across multiple live projects or regions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead incident investigations and liaise with statutory agencies.
