Heart of House Porter

About the role

The Heart of House Porter supports the Assistant Heart of House Manager and supervisors in maintaining the back‑of‑house food & beverage areas, storerooms and kitchens at Raffles London. The role involves cleaning, waste management and ensuring all equipment and service areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, store and maintain crockery, glassware and cutlery.
• Operate cleaning machines, dishwashers and polishers safely, following all safety protocols.
• Support all Raffles and Mauro Colagreco dining venues with back‑of‑house tasks.
• Organise storerooms, record breakages and wastage, and coordinate deliveries.
• Work with all departments to manage waste disposal and recycling according to Raffles green standards.
• Provide additional support in the absence of line managers or senior staff.
• Perform other duties as required, including occasional work in other departments or restaurants.

Required profile

• Ability to maintain back‑of‑house areas to the highest cleanliness standards.
• Familiarity with safe handling of cleaning chemicals and adherence to COSHH regulations.
• Knowledge of fire, emergency and bomb procedures and ability to report hazards promptly.
• Strong organisational skills for managing storerooms, deliveries and waste streams.
