HGV PSV Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HGV/PSV Technician to join our family‑run transport company’s modern workshop in Manchester. You will be responsible for keeping our fleet and customer vehicles running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, PSVs, trailers and other commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance inspections to DVSA standards and prepare vehicles for MOT testing.
• Repair brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrain and tipping gear components.
• Complete accurate workshop paperwork, job cards and inspection sheets.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an HGV/PSV Technician.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding abilities.
• Good understanding of DVSA inspection standards.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence; HGV or PSV licence desirable.
