Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School, Westminster

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Westminster from September 2026. The role focuses on supporting Key Stage 2 pupils, delivering targeted interventions and helping children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions across KS2.
• Support pupils with SEMH needs using positive behaviour management and tailored strategies.
• Provide Maths and English interventions to raise attainment.
• Cover whole‑class teaching during teacher absence when required.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver engaging learning activities.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

Required profile

• Experienced HLTA or highly experienced Teaching Assistant with primary school experience.
• Strong experience supporting pupils across Key Stage 2.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
• Confidence delivering interventions and leading whole‑class learning when required.
• Excellent communication, organisation and behaviour management skills.
• HLTA status or equivalent experience is desirable.
