Higher Level Teaching Assistant – PPA Cover (Primary)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports a welcoming primary school in the Cotswolds by providing Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) cover across all year groups. The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will deliver pre‑planned lessons, maintain a positive learning environment and help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned lessons for the full primary age range.
• Provide high‑quality classroom cover during teachers' PPA time.
• Monitor pupil progress, give feedback to class teachers and adapt activities to meet diverse needs.
• Deliver targeted interventions to boost achievement.
• Support SEND pupils, including those with My Plans, My Plan+ and EHCPs.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENDCo, parents and external professionals.
• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion throughout the school.

Required profile

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience leading whole‑class learning in a primary setting.
• Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to inclusive education.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable.
• Experience delivering interventions and supporting SEND learners.
• Knowledge of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches.
