Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist – ICU

About the role

Cleveland Clinic London is seeking a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work across the Intensive Care Unit and acute wards. You will operate autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, managing a caseload of patients with complex communication, swallowing and tracheostomy needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage complex communication, swallowing and tracheostomy weaning needs for ICU and acute ward patients.
• Provide expert clinical advice to the multidisciplinary team on neurological and medical communication and swallowing issues.
• Deputise for the Speech and Language Therapy Lead when required.
• Educate and train fellow therapists and MDT members on communication, swallowing and cognitive impairments in critically ill patients.

Required profile

• Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
• Post‑graduate experience in specialist skills such as Videofluoroscopy, FEES assessment and tracheostomy management.
• Evidence of training or experience in supervising therapists or students.
• Strong clinical reasoning and ability to apply evidence‑based techniques in critical care settings.
