Hospital Cleaner – Domestic Cleaning Role

About the role

Join a busy hospital team in Swindon as a Domestic Cleaner. You will help maintain a safe, hygienic environment for patients, visitors and staff, playing a vital part in infection prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitising surfaces and emptying bins.
• Clean patient areas, wards, treatment rooms, offices, toilets, corridors, waiting areas and communal spaces.
• Replenish consumables like soap, toilet rolls and paper towels.
• Carry out deep‑cleaning of isolation rooms and other high‑risk areas as required.
• Follow colour‑coded equipment procedures to avoid cross‑contamination.
• Report hazards, accidents, spillages or maintenance issues to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a cleaning or domestic services role.
• Good understanding of hygiene standards and infection control.
• Ability to follow detailed cleaning schedules and health‑and‑safety guidelines.
• Reliability and ability to work within shift patterns, including weekends.

Required skills

• Use of colour‑coded cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) guidelines.
• Familiarity with infection prevention and control procedures.
• Safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £12.71.
• Shift pattern: 9:00 am‑7:00 pm with a 30‑minute unpaid break (9.5 paid hours).
• Potential for extension and progression to permanent employment.
