Hospital Domestic Cleaner – Night Shift

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Domestic/Cleaner to join the night shift team at Great Western Hospital in Swindon. The role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors during the overnight hours.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming and wiping surfaces across wards, toilets and waiting areas.
• Carry out deep‑cleaning of high‑risk and isolation zones according to the schedule.
• Use hospital‑approved cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
• Follow strict infection‑prevention protocols, including zoning, sanitising high‑touch surfaces and adhering to COSHH guidelines.
• Report hazards, store cleaning products correctly and wear personal protective equipment.
• Collaborate with nursing and ward staff to support patient care and communicate any issues.

Required profile

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Level 2 Cleaning Support Services qualification (desirable).
• Previous cleaning experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with infection‑control environments and hygiene standards.
• Reliable, trustworthy and professional attitude.

Required skills

• Operating hospital cleaning equipment.
• Safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals (COSHH compliance).
• Implementation of infection‑control and zoning procedures.

• Full‑time night shift (19:00‑07:00) on a 4‑on‑4‑off roster.
