Housekeeping Assistant – Care Home

About the role

Join Bupa’s Richmond Villages team as a Housekeeping Assistant, helping residents enjoy clean, safe, and comfortable living spaces. You will work on‑site in a retirement village environment, supporting both private rooms and communal areas.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain resident rooms, public areas, and facilities to the highest cleaning standards.
• Operate vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and carpet shampooers.
• Empty bins, sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors.
• Clean carpets, upholstery, windows, doors, and woodwork.
• Wash, dry and iron residents’ clothing, bedding and communal laundry.
• Report safety hazards and ensure compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a housekeeping or domestic cleaning role.
• Basic understanding of infection control, COSHH and compliance standards.
• Friendly, approachable and able to build professional relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to a safe working environment.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check (cost covered by Bupa).

Required skills

• Operation of vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and carpet shampooers.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.
