Housing Maintenance Officer – Bedfordshire & Oxfordshire

About the role

We are looking for an organised, customer‑focused Housing Maintenance Officer to support the upkeep of independent living centres across Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire. The role involves a mix of hands‑on repairs, routine inspections and coordination with contractors, ensuring safe and pleasant environments for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and planned maintenance tasks in communal areas and residents’ homes.
• Organise and prioritise maintenance work to meet deadlines.
• Conduct regular inspections of schemes, identify issues and report concerns.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety standards.
• Liaise with external contractors and monitor their work on site.
• Record all repairs accurately and follow up on outstanding tasks.
• Build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and contractors through clear communication.

Required profile

• Practical experience in general maintenance or property repairs.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
• Strong organisational ability and capacity to manage own workload.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer‑first attitude and commitment to high service standards.
• Confidence using IT systems for work recording and task management.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Successful completion of an enhanced DBS check.
