Housing Solutions Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Housing Solutions Officer to join our expanding Housing Solutions Team in North London. The role focuses on preventing homelessness and supporting individuals in temporary accommodation, delivering high‑quality advice and casework in line with the Housing Act 1996.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a quality service of housing solutions, advice and homeless‑prevention casework.
• Process homeless applications robustly and deliver accurate, statutory advice.
• Utilise all available prevention tools to sustain tenancies or secure suitable, affordable accommodation.
• Prepare and issue Section 184 decisions.
• Deliver statutory advice and assistance to non‑priority homeless cases, including rough sleepers, under s.192 of the Housing Act 1996.
• Employ tools such as the HomeFinder Scheme, Discretionary Hardship Payments and court representation to prevent homelessness.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Housing Solutions Officer or in a comparable homelessness‑prevention role.
• Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and related statutory duties.
• Ability to assess applications, provide clear advice and make sound decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to supporting vulnerable households.
