HR Advisor – Employee Relations & Organisational Development

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join our busy HR and Organisational Development team in Southampton. You will provide timely, professional HR advice and support to managers and HR Business Partners across a wide range of people‑related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers on employment matters and HR policies.
• Support employee‑relations cases, workplace conflict, and dispute resolution.
• Advise on workforce structures, organisational change, and working practices.
• Develop and implement effective HR policies and procedures.
• Contribute to workforce planning and training & development initiatives.
• Collaborate with managers, HR colleagues, and Trade Union representatives.
• Support HR and organisational development projects and continuous‑improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate records and provide HR data and insight for decision‑making.
• Identify HR risks and deliver practical, business‑focused solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience providing HR advice within a large or complex organisation.
• Good understanding of employee relations, people management, workforce planning, and HR policy.
• CIPD membership or relevant professional development desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong IT literacy and ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
• Experience working with Trade Unions and handling employee‑relations casework is advantageous.
