HR Advisor – Hybrid Role in West Sussex

About the role

We are seeking an HR Advisor to join a dynamic team in West Sussex on a contract basis for up to ten months. Working 37 hours per week, you will enjoy a hybrid model with two days on‑site each week and the flexibility to manage the remaining days remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert HR advice on employee relations, disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and workplace conflict.
• Lead complex case management, including investigations, documentation, outcome letters and compliance with ACAS guidance.
• Advise on sickness absence, occupational health referrals, reasonable adjustments and wellbeing initiatives.
• Support managers with recruitment, selection, onboarding and inclusive hiring practices.
• Assist with organisational change, restructures, consultation processes and trade‑union engagement.
• Maintain accurate HR records, analyse workforce data and produce trend reports.
• Contribute to HR policy development, continuous improvement projects and manager training.

Required profile

• Minimum CIPD Level 3 qualification; CIPD Level 5 preferred.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience in public sector or local authority HR environments.
• Familiarity with trade‑union working arrangements and collective consultation.
