HR Manager

About the role

We are seeking an HR Manager to deliver a comprehensive HR service that enables managers and employees to foster a high-performance culture. The role balances strategic leadership with hands-on management of day-to-day HR operations, working closely with the Managing Director and the Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the MD to design and implement HR projects aligned with business objectives.
• Support managers in recruitment, training and talent development to meet evolving business needs.
• Provide advice on employee-relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, retirement and redundancy cases.
• Produce accurate HR reports and maintain payroll information in collaboration with the outsourced payroll bureau.
• Lead and develop the HR team while overseeing general administration functions.
• Manage talent, performance and succession planning to support business growth.
• Update policies and procedures to reflect legislative changes and best practice.
• Maintain HR systems and employment records in compliance with GDPR.
• Build relationships with external suppliers such as recruitment agencies and training providers.
• Identify short- and long-term staffing requirements and manage the end-to-end recruitment process.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior HR role with both strategic and operational responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and provide proactive HR advice.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing a small HR team and coordinating with external payroll providers.
