HR Manager – Operational HR Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead operational HR functions for a well‑established medium‑sized organisation in Haywards Heath. This permanent position offers the chance to shape HR processes, support line managers, and contribute to strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver efficient HR operational services, including payroll, compliance, and employee records management.
• Develop and refine HR policies and procedures to align with organisational goals.
• Provide guidance to line managers on HR matters, ensuring legal compliance and best‑practice standards.
• Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic HR projects.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and smooth integration of new hires.
• Monitor HR metrics and produce reports on operational effectiveness.
• Manage employee relations cases, offering advice and resolution strategies.
• Stay current with employment legislation and HR trends.

Required profile

• Proven operational HR experience, preferably in not‑for‑profit or similar sectors.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience supervising staff or managing teams.
• Proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with collaborative working style.
