HSE Advisor – Gas Industry (Hybrid, Liverpool)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support safe delivery of gas, utilities and infrastructure projects across the Liverpool region. Working closely with operational teams, project managers and contractors, you will provide practical health, safety and environmental guidance while promoting a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HSE guidance and embed safe working practices throughout projects.
• Develop and review safety documentation such as RAMS, Construction Phase Plans and Traffic Management Plans.
• Conduct site visits, inspections and audits to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise project teams and contractors on legal requirements, company standards and best practice.
• Support investigations of incidents, near‑misses and safety concerns.
• Assist with risk assessment activities including HAZID, HAZOP and hazardous area reviews.
• Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks and engagement activities.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and support compliance reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HSE Advisor in gas, utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation (CDM 2015, PUWER, LOLER, Working at Height).
• NEBOSH General Certificate (essential) and preferably NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• IOSH membership (TechIOSH/GradIOSH) or progression towards CMIOSH.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to operational sites.
