About the role
This 12.5‑month placement with Airbus in Filton focuses on designing and developing hydrogen‑focused test rigs for fuel and landing‑gear systems. You will work within the Laboratory Test Means development team, contributing to the creation of equipment that enables Airbus to assess hydrogen as a future fuel.
Key responsibilities
- Develop new hydrogen‑focused test rigs from requirements capture through detailed design, manufacturing, integration and commissioning.
- Modify existing hydrogen test rigs to accommodate new test requests.
- Troubleshoot test‑rig issues and support set‑up for in‑service aircraft investigations.
- Produce 3D digital mock‑ups, bills of materials and build procedures using CATIA and related tools.
Required profile
- Undergraduate studying fluid mechanics, mechanical or chemical engineering, with graduation date after the placement.
- Willingness to work in hazardous environments and adherence to health & safety rules.

- Strong teamwork, communication and adaptability.
Required skills
- Proficiency with CATIA for 3D modelling and design documentation.

- Salary of £24,246 per year.
- 35‑hour work week with flexible and hybrid working options.
- Half‑day Fridays.
