ICS/OT Cyber Security Support Engineer

About the role

We are seeking proactive and collaborative professionals to join our Nuclear Security Case team, supporting the design of the Rolls‑Royce Small Modular Reactor (SMR). This position focuses on industrial control system (ICS) cyber security, protecting critical operational technology within a nuclear environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement Cyber Security Risk Assessments and contribute to Cyber Protection System (CPS) requirements, specifications, and control sets.
• Apply Secure‑by‑Design principles and shape Claims, Arguments and Evidence for the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).
• Translate complex cyber risks into clear insights for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Support engineering, safeguards and safety functions to embed cyber security into design decisions at every stage.
• Contribute to site‑specific design work in the UK and internationally as the programme evolves.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of ICS/SCADA/OT systems and familiarity with standards such as IEC 62443, IEC 62645 or NIST CSF.
• Experience with secure‑by‑design principles, requirements identification and cyber security frameworks.
• Excellent technical writing skills, with experience producing and reviewing design documentation.
• Background in highly regulated, safety‑critical environments and interaction with regulatory inspectors.
• Ability to communicate cyber risk clearly to specialists and non‑specialists and respond constructively to challenge.
