Import Clerk – Ocean Freight

About the role

Join a well‑established freight forwarding business that specialises in ocean freight imports. We are looking for an experienced Import Clerk to manage import movements from start to finish, ensuring efficiency, compliance and high‑level customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end ocean freight import consignments.
• Liaise with global shipping lines, agents and customers.
• Prepare and verify import documentation, including Bills of Lading and customs paperwork.
• Monitor shipments, proactively handling delays or issues.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and internal procedures.
• Provide clear, timely updates to customers and maintain accurate records in freight management systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ocean freight imports (essential).
• Strong understanding of import documentation and customs processes.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment.
• Customer‑focused with a proactive, problem‑solving approach.

Required skills

• Experience using freight or logistics management systems (advantageous).
