In-house Commercial Lawyer (12m FTC)

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing multi‑sector organisation, is looking for an experienced Commercial Lawyer to provide hands‑on legal support to senior stakeholders. The role can be taken on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract or on a day‑rate basis, working closely with procurement, sales, finance and compliance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including Master Services Agreements, supplier and procurement contracts, consultancy agreements, SaaS and technology agreements, NDAs, terms and conditions, and framework/out‑sourcing arrangements.
• Provide pragmatic, risk‑based legal advice to business units and support strategic projects, commercial transactions and business transformation initiatives.
• Advise on contractual risk, liability provisions, indemnities, dispute management and data‑protection matters, including GDPR compliance.
• Manage external counsel where required and develop contract templates, legal processes and playbooks.
• Support senior leadership on complex legal and commercial matters as they arise.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction) with at least 4 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong commercial contracts experience gained in‑house or in private practice.
• Proven ability to independently draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
• Experience advising senior stakeholders in a fast‑paced business environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
