In-house Commercial Lawyer

About the role

Join the legal team at NEXT, a FTSE‑100 retailer, as an In‑house Commercial Lawyer. You will work at the heart of a fast‑moving business, supporting a portfolio of well‑known brands and gaining exposure to a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts such as concession, licensing, SaaS, purchasing and consultancy agreements.
• Provide practical, solution‑focused advice on commercial legal requirements to internal stakeholders.
• Handle non‑contentious intellectual property matters and manage pre‑action dispute issues.
• Support regulatory and compliance activities, including consumer law, competition law, pricing, advertising claims and product recalls.
• Mentor legal assistants, review contract templates and assist with contract management processes.

Required profile

• Authorized to practice law by the Law Society or Bar Council of England & Wales (qualified UK solicitor).
• Proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Ability to work at a fast pace, manage competing priorities and thrive under pressure.
• Strong desire to expand expertise into IP, consumer law and regulatory compliance.
• Pragmatic, commercial mindset with excellent collaboration skills.
