Indirect Tax Accountant

About the role

POP MART is expanding its European tax function and is looking for an ambitious Indirect Tax Accountant to join the newly created European Tax team in London. This junior‑level position will own VAT compliance across 15‑20 European jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely filings while supporting the company’s rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage VAT returns, EC Sales Lists (ESL/VIES) and Intrastat declarations for 15‑20 European jurisdictions, guaranteeing 100% on‑time filing.
• Oversee VAT reporting for e‑commerce activities and coordinate with external tax agents and fiscal representatives.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations between VAT filings and NetSuite general‑ledger accounts, investigating and resolving variances.
• Audit local VAT accounts and expense booking practices to ensure correct treatment (deductibility, reverse charge, non‑deductible expenses).
• Maintain and validate tax codes in NetSuite and collaborate with IT/Finance to automate data extraction.
• Serve as the first point of contact for Operations and Finance on routine tax queries and advise on VAT treatment of new business initiatives.
• Develop simple guidance and training sessions for local finance teams to improve self‑sufficiency on basic VAT compliance.

Required profile

• Junior‑level tax compliance professional with a strong interest in indirect tax.
• Experience or solid understanding of VAT compliance across multiple European jurisdictions.
• Ability to work closely with external agents, internal finance partners and IT teams.
• Strong analytical skills for reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Excellent communication skills to support business partners and provide clear guidance.
