Industrial Organiser

About the role

The National Education Union (NEU) is seeking an Industrial Organiser to lead on‑the‑ground organising projects across the South East region. You will work closely with members, representatives and branch officers to build collective power, support activists and deliver impactful industrial campaigns.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement organising campaigns that strengthen union presence in schools, local authorities and multi‑academy trusts.
• Support and mentor workplace representatives, helping them to resolve disputes and negotiate with employers.
• Coordinate complex projects, ensuring timelines, resources and outcomes are met.
• Represent the union in negotiations, industrial actions and public speaking engagements.
• Travel extensively across the region, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in union organising, campaigning or industrial relations.
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking abilities.
• Ability to coach and develop activists independently.
• Strong knowledge of education systems and employment rights, or capacity to learn quickly.
• Commitment to trade‑union values, equality and diversity.
• Full UK driving licence.
