Infection Prevention & Control Nurse – Cross‑site (Banbury & Milton Keynes)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead Nurse to work across Cherwell Hospital in Banbury and Blakelands Hospital in Milton Keynes. You will provide evidence‑based IPC advice, lead surveillance activities and ensure high standards of infection safety for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead surveillance, prevention and control of infections in the hospital setting.
• Promote and maintain high standards of IPC practices.
• Deliver mandatory training in IPC, Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Non‑Touch Technique (ANTT).
• Provide clinical advice and support to multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in audit, policy development and incident reporting.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a degree or equivalent experience.
• Current NMC registration.
• Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
• Recent experience in an acute surgical care environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of IPC at ward/department level.

Required skills

• Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) expertise.
• Surveillance and audit of infections, including Surgical Site Infection Surveillance.
• Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Non‑Touch Technique (ANTT) training.
• Policy and procedure writing.
• Report writing and familiarity with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
