Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Sixworks is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and maintain secure digital solutions for defence and national security missions. You will work in a highly classified environment, collaborating with engineers, architects and delivery specialists to enable faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, improve and secure multi‑classification virtualised collaboration and development environments.
• Support Secure‑by‑Design capabilities across internal projects and external customers.
• Provide infrastructure support for public‑cloud SaaS offerings (Office 365) and project‑based systems spanning public, private and hybrid clouds.
• Execute maintenance tasks through change control and manage patching in line with provider recommendations and security policy.
• Monitor and manage ticketing and alerting systems, triage alerts and respond to incidents.
• Identify trends, plan changes and improve stability and performance of infrastructure.
• Stay current with secure cloud and network technologies and pursue relevant certifications.
• Advise customers and project teams on infrastructure and support aspects, and create knowledge articles.

Required profile

• Experience working in protectively marked environments.
• Ability to take ownership, think critically and collaborate within a team.
• Willingness to develop expertise in emerging cloud and security technologies.

• Windows Server 2016+ administration
• VMware vSphere, vCenter and VCF
• Azure and Microsoft 365 administration
• Linux (CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu)
• PowerShell scripting
• EUD provisioning (Autopilot), maintenance, patching and hardening
• SSO concepts and operation
• Kubernetes administration (e.g., VMware TKGI, DevSecOps)
• Ops tooling such as Elastic and Nessus
• Application packaging
• HashiCorp Terraform
