Inside Sales (FCL) – Freight Forwarding

About the role

We are seeking a proactive FCL Inside Sales Executive to join our client’s team at their Basildon office. The role is ideal for candidates with ocean shipping experience and offers full training in freight forwarding.

Key responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and liaise with customers and overseas offices via phone and email.
• Prepare quotations using contract rates and spot rate platforms, and present them through the operating system.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and clients.
• Generate leads and collaborate with external sales to expand the client base.
• Conduct targeted follow‑ups to increase conversion rates and manage the customer base.
• Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth transition from quote to booking.

Required profile

• Experience in ocean shipping, either as a freight forwarder or with a shipping line.
• Strong ability to prepare detailed and accurate quotations.
• Proven customer service track record with relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to generate leads and follow up effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Experience with ocean shipping quotation platforms (contract and spot rates).
