About the role
An interim Accountancy Technician is needed by a Cheshire local authority to join the Place Finance team on a hybrid basis. The role supports services such as Libraries and Housing, working closely with the Finance Business Partner on budget setting, in‑year monitoring, and account closure.
Key responsibilities
- Support the preparation and maintenance of capital and revenue budgets.
- Provide finance support and advice to operational managers.
- Assist with budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Support the annual closure of accounts process.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and financial procedures.
Required profile
- Experience providing finance support to managers (essential).
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial procedures, and audit principles.
- Good experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- AAT qualification desirable.
- Local authority or public‑sector finance experience advantageous.
