Interim Head of Commercial Finance

About the role

This interim position supports a major contract within a fast‑growing, PE‑backed infrastructure business. You will lead a team of commercial finance professionals and provide financial leadership to improve performance, cash generation and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of five senior and operational commercial finance staff.
• Own forecasting, financial reporting and performance analysis for a key client contract.
• Improve cash collection performance and strengthen financial controls.
• Introduce greater rigour to existing finance processes.
• Identify margin improvement opportunities and convert them into cash generation.
• Drive continuous process improvement across finance and commercial functions.

Required profile

• Qualified, part‑qualified or experienced finance professional.
• Previous experience as Finance Business Partner, Senior Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance Manager or equivalent.
• Strong forecasting, reporting and financial analysis capabilities.
• Proven track record of driving process improvements and challenging existing ways of working.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Experience managing and developing teams.
• Commercially focused and able to deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.

What we offer

• Day rate of £450‑£550, Inside IR35.
• Initial 6‑9 month contract with potential extension.
• Hybrid working – 2‑3 days per week in the Lancashire office.
