Interim Head of Finance & Contracts

About the role

Lead finance, shape strategy and support the delivery of healthcare improvement at scale. This interim position reports to the Director of Operations and will provide strategic leadership across finance, commercial governance and contractual management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for financial sustainability, risk management and decision‑making across a diverse portfolio of programmes, partnerships and grant‑funded initiatives.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organisational objectives.
• Advise senior leaders on contracts, commercial opportunities, business cases and strategic investments to maximise value for money.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to shape organisational strategy and support successful delivery of healthcare improvement programmes.

Required profile

• Fully qualified CCAB accountant with substantial post‑qualification experience, preferably within the NHS or public‑sector healthcare.
• Proven track record in senior financial leadership, business planning and strategic finance in complex organisations.
• Strong commercial, contractual and governance expertise, including experience with major business cases and partnership arrangements.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior and non‑finance stakeholders while leading high‑performing finance teams.
