Interim Head of FP&A

About the role

A large, complex public sector organisation in the West Country is looking for an Interim Head of FP&A to report directly to the Chief Finance Officer. You will lead the budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and business partnering functions and act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. The role is up to 9 months.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting process and the Medium-Term Financial Plan (MTFP).
• Provide financial reporting, forecasting and performance analysis to executive stakeholders.
• Lead, develop and mentor a team of Finance and Procurement Business Partners.
• Support strategic decisions through financial modelling, business case development and investment appraisal.
• Drive a strong business partnering culture across operational and corporate functions.
• Oversee capital programme monitoring and financial governance.
• Provide strategic oversight of procurement and contract management activities.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA).
• Experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
• People leader with experience developing high-performing teams.
• Comfortable presenting financial information and recommendations to executives.
• The role requires vetting; fast-track options are available.

What we offer

• Day rate of £350-£450+, depending on experience.
