Interim Inventory Manager

About the role

This interim assignment is with a leading organisation in Manchester, seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to drive inventory strategy and optimisation across a multi‑site national operation. You will work closely with procurement, supply chain, finance, IT and operations teams to balance stock availability, cost control and service performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end inventory function, including demand forecasting, order planning and stock optimisation across multiple locations.
• Review, improve and maintain inventory processes, ERP systems and KPI reporting for raw materials, finished goods and maintenance stock.
• Analyse inventory performance, optimise re‑order points and enhance working capital efficiency while maintaining service levels.
• Lead inventory governance, coordinate audits, implement stock controls and manage the annual stock‑take.
• Oversee supplier inventory arrangements, monitor stock performance across sites and subcontractors, and provide strategic insights to senior management.
• Lead and develop the inventory team, driving accountability and measurable improvements.

Required profile

• Significant inventory management experience in a global or complex multi‑site environment.
• Proven responsibility for national or multi‑site inventory operations.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain planning, stock control and inventory optimisation.
• Excellent analytical abilities and data‑driven decision‑making.
