Interim Management Accountant (3-6 months)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a leading retail business in London on an interim basis for 3‑6 months. The role involves delivering accurate monthly management accounts, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and providing financial insight to drive business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare timely monthly management accounts and meet all reporting deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Build strong relationships across the business, offering financial guidance and training to managers.
• Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, delivering variance analysis and trend insights.
• Communicate critical financial issues, risks, and opportunities to the Head of Finance.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with departmental managers.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities, ensuring data accuracy.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in management accounting or a similar finance role.
• Immediate availability or notice period of one week or less.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
