Interim Management Accountant – Manufacturing Finance

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded Management Accountant on a 5‑6 month interim basis to join a growing SME in Manchester. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own the monthly management accounts for key business areas, support operational decision‑making and contribute to finance transformation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Produce insightful management information, variance analysis and financial commentary.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations and robust financial controls.
• Own stock, work‑in‑progress and margin reporting to ensure financial accuracy.
• Partner with operational and manufacturing teams, challenging performance and identifying profitability improvements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, process improvements and reporting automation.
• Assist with year‑end audit requirements and ad‑hoc finance projects.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA (part‑qualified or fully qualified) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience preparing management accounts in manufacturing, engineering, construction or project‑based environments.
• Confidence handling stock, work‑in‑progress and margin accounting.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
