Internal Controls Analyst

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Internal Controls Analyst to join our FTSE 250 business. Reporting to the Manager of Internal Controls, you will help implement and maintain AJ Bell’s financial, operational, and compliance control environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct design‑effectiveness reviews of controls and create or review process maps.
• Perform operating‑effectiveness testing of material and key controls, provide outcomes and recommendations.
• Work with business stakeholders to resolve control design failures and monitor remediation plans.
• Support Risk and Control Self‑Assessments (RCSAs) and develop control indicators and continuous‑monitoring practices.
• Use data‑analytics techniques to assess control effectiveness and report findings to executive and board committees.
• Interpret and apply new UK Corporate Governance Code requirements to processes and controls.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in risk, internal control, or audit, preferably within financial services.
• Proven ability to conduct design and operating‑effectiveness testing, document outcomes and track remediation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
• Analytical, logical, and methodical approach with the ability to manage tight reporting deadlines.
