International Trade Compliance Officer

About the role

We are seeking an International Trade Compliance Officer to manage export licensing and customs compliance for a 12‑month contract. The role is primarily remote with a monthly visit to our Havant office, working Monday‑Friday with every other Friday off.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate export activities, including traffic flow, customer service, brokerage and customs transactions.
• Maintain compliance with UK Department for Business & Trade (DBT) regulations and HMRC requirements for controlled goods.
• Research and resolve supplier or customer issues and negotiate handling agreements with foreign customers.
• Generate, track and support export licences (OGEL, SIEL, OEIL, F1686, End‑User Undertakings) through the UK government review process.
• Liaise with U.S. officials and other government licensing authorities to ensure proper authorisations.
• Provide export‑licensing support for business development, technical demonstrations, exhibitions and trade shows, including F680 clearances.
• Conduct monthly post‑audit checks of all exports and maintain accurate records for audits.

Required profile

• Proven experience in international trade compliance, export licensing and customs procedures.
• Strong knowledge of DBT, HMRC and UK export control regimes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external government bodies.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain comprehensive documentation.
