IT Applications Service Manager

About the role

An experienced IT Applications Service Manager is needed to support a housing organisation undergoing transformation. You will own a diverse portfolio of business‑critical applications, ensuring they remain stable, reliable and aligned with evolving business needs while working in a hybrid model (2 days on‑site per week).

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day performance, availability and user satisfaction of enterprise applications.
• Lead and develop a team of Application Analysts and Senior Application Analysts.
• Oversee operational performance of the application estate and drive continual improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate 2nd and 3rd line support, escalations and incident resolution.
• Maintain supplier and vendor relationships, ensuring SLA compliance.
• Support change and release activities to guarantee smooth transitions into live service.
• Establish robust governance, processes and service‑management practices.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to prioritise improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing enterprise application services in a complex environment.
• Strong leadership background with experience developing and mentoring technical teams.
• Solid understanding of service operations, application support and continual service improvement.
• Experience managing third‑party suppliers and outsourced service providers.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with incident, problem, change and release management processes.
• Experience in housing, local government or the wider public sector is highly desirable.
