IT Head of Technology

About the role

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an IT Head of Technology to join our global team, based on‑site at our headquarters in Prescot, Merseyside. This pivotal, high‑impact leadership role sits at the core of our Group IT function, driving the modernisation of our global technology landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Technology pillar, overseeing Application Managers, Infrastructure Managers, Architects and Development Leads.
• Partner with Strategy & Governance to execute the enterprise roadmap and champion data as a strategic asset.
• Direct complex global solution roll‑outs across Agile, Hybrid and Waterfall frameworks, ensuring smooth transition to operations.
• Modernise software engineering practices, embedding DevOps, AI‑assisted engineering, automation and security‑by‑design.
• Oversee worldwide infrastructure, cloud environments, network systems and disaster recovery planning.
• Drive enterprise reporting, advanced analytics and self‑service capabilities for a single source of truth.
• Evaluate and manage COTS/ERP and low‑code/no‑code platforms, overseeing vendor performance and citizen developer enablement.

Required profile

• Proven senior technology leadership experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Broad technical depth across enterprise architecture, cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP), software development and data.
• Experience delivering enterprise‑wide technology projects and COTS/ERP implementations.
• Strong understanding of Business Intelligence, analytics platforms and data governance.
• Knowledge of global infrastructure operations, high‑availability cloud setups and disaster recovery.
• Commercial acumen in vendor management, contract reviews and build‑vs‑buy decisions.
• Ability to mentor, coach and inspire a diverse technical team.
