About the role

The Judicial Support Advisor will work under the supervision of High Court judges to manage the Earthquake List, a specialised docket handling litigation arising from the Canterbury earthquakes. This part‑time, fixed‑term position involves close interaction with counsel, legal research, and providing detailed analysis to support judicial decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Classify newly filed earthquake‑related cases and determine their eligibility for the Earthquake List.
• Maintain day‑to‑day administration of the Earthquake List, ensuring accurate case information.
• Engage with counsel to discuss case progress and procedural requirements.
• Conduct legal research and prepare analytical briefs for judges and other stakeholders.
• Provide written and verbal advice on complex legal and factual issues arising in earthquake litigation.
