Junior Cyber Security Analyst

About the role

Join the Cyber Security team at the Financial Ombudsman Service and help protect our employees, assets and data. This permanent junior position offers a hybrid working model and a clear pathway to develop expertise in security operations, SIEM tools and incident handling.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Cyber Security function in maintaining and improving the organisation’s security posture.
• Assist with monitoring, analysing and responding to security events that could affect reputation or operations.
• Gain hands‑on experience with SIEM platforms and incident handling processes.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure sensitive data is handled securely.
• Participate in mentoring and training activities to build a strong foundation in cyber security.

Required profile

• Strong foundational IT knowledge with a demonstrable interest or early experience in cyber or information security.
• Experience working in a team‑oriented, busy operational environment and prioritising tasks.
• Ability to handle sensitive data responsibly.
• Customer‑focused mindset and alignment with organisational values.

Required skills

• Awareness of cyber security frameworks and standards such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK and ISO27001.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools and incident handling concepts.

• Salary range £36,931 – £40,000 per year, dependent on experience.
