Junior Solicitor / CILEX Lawyer – Landlord & Tenant Litigation

About the role

Our client, a well‑established legal practice specialising in landlord and tenant litigation, is expanding its team. They are seeking a Junior or Newly Qualified Solicitor, or a CILEX Lawyer with litigation practice rights, to join the busy Landlord & Tenant Litigation Department in Uckfield.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake fee‑earning work under supervision, contributing to the department’s workload.
• Assist with defended and complex landlord‑and‑tenant matters, including Fast Track and Multi‑Track cases.
• Draft legal documents, ensure compliance with court directions and orders.
• Progress towards managing smaller matters independently while supporting larger cases.
• Correspond with clients, defendants, courts, solicitors, advocates, counsel and managing agents.
• Issue possession claims via the Possession Claims Online system.
• Prepare court applications, manual possession claims, accelerated possession proceedings and warrant applications.
• Draft notices seeking possession and prepare instructions for advocates and counsel.
• Maintain accurate case records and update case‑management spreadsheets.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor (Junior/NQ) or CILEX Lawyer with litigation practice rights.
• Good understanding of landlord and tenant law (training can be provided for candidates without direct experience).
• Ability to work under supervision and develop towards independent case handling.
